PC004 Political Contessa The Cross Sectionality of Being a Woman, a Business Owner, a Parent, and a Candidate for Political Office with Beth Lindstrom
Beth Lindstrom is an admirable model of hard work and resilience. A product of divorce, she worked her tail off to put herself through college and graduate school. She is also a mom of three grown sons. Beth has spent her career not just working in government, but working largely in party politics. She has sat on a number of boards and is a small business owner, as well as an integral part of the beginning of numerous startups. She has also run for office.
Today, Beth joins me as we discuss the cross sectionality of owning a business, having experience in the startup world, and having spent the early part of her career in party politics and state government. We talk about how these collide, discussing the ways they fit together and the ways they don’t. She shares how the fact that she is a woman has played into this collision. We discuss the dangerous effects of cancel culture and talk about the benefits of moving away from party labels in such a culture. We note the theatrical tendency of many politicians, and we encourage you to find an issue you’re passionate about and run for local office to try to change it.
“Tough as it is, take a step. You’re worthy of it.”-Beth Lindstrom
