PC000 - Using Polls to Determine Top Issues for Voters with Amanda Iovino
Amanda Iovino is a Principal at WPA Intelligence, one of the top two Republican polling firms in the United States. Amanda led the data efforts for Governor Glenn Younkin’s Virginia gubernatorial campaign in 2021 where she was awarded the American Association of Political Consultants’ Republican Pollster of the Year award. Prior to working with WPA, Amanda has served as the Director of Research and Analytics for Winning For Women, where she directed qualitative and quantitative research efforts on behalf of the organization, as well as the Director of The Women’s Initiative, a large-scale research effort into the perspectives of Independent women voters.
Amanda joins me today to share her journey into the political polling and data analytics space. We discuss what it was like to work with Governor Younkin during his campaign and how her polling efforts helped his campaign focus their efforts on the issues that mattered most to Virginia voters. We discuss how showing empathy can impact the direction voters take at the polls. We discuss what the polls are currently showing regarding issues around parental rights, education, and abortion and the direction Amanda predicts voters will take during the mid-term elections. We also discuss what Amanda believes the future will hold for female Republican candidates and why voters should be cautious about public pollings.
