PC080 - Where’s the Equality in Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan?

Nothing in life is free, including education. I know this from first-hand experience because I paid off my student loan debt, over $240,000, after getting my law degree. And if I can do it, anyone can buckle down and pay off their loans too. But the Biden administration would have you believe that millions of borrowers with trillions of dollars in student loan debt aren’t capable of understanding the terms of their loan meant they would have to pay the money back. Currently, there is a case before the Supreme Court to decide whether or not to bail out borrowers or force them to take some responsibility for their actions and pay off their loans themselves.

In this episode, I discuss the current fight over student loan forgiveness and why I think all borrowers should have to pay back their loans. I share my experience with paying back my student loan debt from law school. I question why the matter is even before the Supreme Court in the first place despite evidence that plenty of borrowers have managed to fulfill their financial obligations. I also discuss the importance of having a conversation around topics like personal finance and economics, and how that discussion has become politicized.
