Christina Bain is a long-time colleague, good friend, and partner in my venture, the Pocketbook Project. She has made a public service career beginning from the presidential campaign trails to the halls of the Massachusetts State House. She has been working in politics and elections for over two decades and has worked on numerous local, state, and national campaigns. She has also served on our Massachusetts Republican State Committee, an elected position. Besides all of this, she is also a human trafficking expert.
Today, Christina joins me to talk about what’s going on in Afghanistan right now, particularly regarding the trafficking situation. Christina talks about the different types of human trafficking that she specializes in and shares her research. We talk in-depth about sexual human trafficking and child marriages, stressing that the human trafficking issue is a humanitarian issue, not a partisan one. For those who want to help improve the situation, Christina points to a nonprofit, faith-based organization that works to welcome Afghan refugees into the country and help them get on their feet.
“I think we can try our very best, but there’s unfortunately always going to be evil in the world, and you’re always going to have situations like conflict. But how we can best mitigate it is where we can shine. And if we have one case and one individual that we’ve helped, then we’ve done a great job for the time that we’ve done it.”
