We all know how important it is to teach our children about government and politics. After all, schools across the country teach lessons on how the government works and the basics of politics, but what happens when those lessons inspire our youth to truly get involved? How should parents and teachers embrace and encourage this enthusiasm in the youth of our nation?
Elizabeth is an 11 year old 6th grader in Massachusetts who aspires to become a congresswoman one day. When her mother discovered her enthusiasm for government and politics, she decided to play an active role in encouraging Elizabeth to learn more about how political campaigns really work by signing her up as a campaign volunteer for the Massachusetts State Representative candidate, Loring Barnes.
Elizabeth joins me today to share her experience as a campaign volunteer, why she decided to volunteer for Loring, and what it’s like to volunteer as a young girl. We discuss why it’s important for the youth of America to get involved in the campaign trail at a young age and the important tasks they can do as a youth volunteer. We discuss why she wants to become a congresswoman when she grows up and what Elizabeth believes it takes to become a great political candidate. Elizabeth also shares her advice to the youth of the nation who want to become more actively involved in politics and volunteer on the campaign trail.
